China Panda 1 oz Copper Round
1 Ounce Copper Round "Copper (Cu, Latin: cuprum) is a chemical element, from the transition metal group of the periodic table. The name copper in Latin (and behind it in many other languages, including English) comes from Cyprus, where the metal was mined in ancient times. It was initially called Cypriot metal (Latin: cyprum aes) and then cuprum. Due to its high demand and relatively small natural resources, copper is a strategic material. Most copper is mined as sulphide in open-pit mines from copper porphyry deposits containing up to 1% copper. The world's copper ore production in terms of pure component, totalling 16.2 million tonnes in 2010, was led by: Chile (5.52 million tonnes), Peru (1.28 million tonnes), China (1.15 million tonnes), USA (1.12 million tonnes), Australia (900 thousand tonnes), Indonesia (840 thousand tonnes), Zambia (770 thousand tonnes), Russia (750 thousand tonnes), Canada (480 thousand tonnes), Poland (430 thousand tonnes) and Kazakhstan (400 thousand tonnes). Countries with the largest estimated copper reserves include: Chile (150 million tonnes), Peru (90 million tonnes), Australia (80 million tonnes), Mexico (38 million tonnes), the United States (35 million tonnes), China, Indonesia and Russia (30 million tonnes) and Poland, whose known reserves are estimated at 26 million tonnes. The main centre of the copper industry in Poland is the Legnica-Głogów copper district."
