The Loggerhead Turtle is a species of sea turtle found in warm ocean waters around the world. It is characterised by its large, heavily shielded head and broad, heart-shaped, reddish-brown carapace. Unfortunately, loggerhead turtles are threatened by habitat loss, fishing, plastic pollution and other human activities. They are therefore under legal protection in many countries. The coin was struck in pure Au.9999 bullion, weighing one troy ounce and measuring 32 mm in diameter, to a prooflike standard. The gold coin was produced by the Scottsdale Mint, in a low mintage of only 1,000 pieces. The product is guaranteed and is legal tender in the Cayman Islands.
