The **Canadian Wolf** is a subspecies of the gray wolf, a predatory mammal from the dog family (Canidae), found in Canada in the areas of the Northwest Territories, Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, as well as in Alaska. It is likely the largest subspecies of the gray wolf (weighing up to 80 kg, with a record of 105 kg) and has developed various size forms across western Canada and Alaska.
The coin is struck from pure silver **(Ag .9999)** with a weight of **1 troy ounce** and a diameter of **38 mm**, produced by the renowned Canadian mint, **Royal Canadian Mint**.
On the **obverse**, there is the likeness of **Queen Elizabeth II** and the denomination (**$5**).
On the **reverse**, the image of a **wolf** is depicted, along with the purity of the coin **(Ag .9999)** and the country of production **Canada**. Since 2015, the mint has further secured the coins by adding a **laser-engraved maple leaf** in the lower quadrant above the weight information.
