Canada: The Jack Pine by Tom Thomson, $30 Silver, 2026, Proof
Canada: The Jack Pine by Tom Thomson is an exceptional silver collectible coin struck from 2 oz of pure 9999 silver, issued in 2026 by the Royal Canadian Mint with a face value of $30. The release pays tribute to one of the most iconic works of Canadian art, “The Jack Pine” painted by Tom Thomson in 1916–1917.
Tom Thomson’s work goes beyond landscape depiction, expressing the spiritual strength and raw beauty of Canada’s wilderness. For over a century, “The Jack Pine” has symbolized the relationship between people and nature. In this interpretation, colour is deliberately omitted to emphasize form, line, and emotional depth.
Struck in Proof quality, the coin features an enlarged 50 mm diameter, enabling advanced engraving techniques. The mintage is strictly limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide.
The coin weighs 62.69 g, has a reeded edge, and is housed in an elegant black clamshell case with an outer box. It also includes a special card with an image of the painting and a quote by Katerina Atanassova of the National Gallery of Canada.
The obverse features the official effigy of King Charles III by Steven Rosati, with CANADA, 30 DOLLARS, and 2026.
The reverse presents an engraved interpretation of “The Jack Pine” by Tom Thomson.
