Silver Coin Canada: Remembrance Day Coloured 1 oz Silver 2026 Proof
Silver Coin Canada: Remembrance Day Coloured 1 oz Silver 2026 Proof is a unique issue from the Royal Canadian Mint dedicated to the Canadian tradition of remembering the fallen. The coin is struck from 31.39 g of .9999 fine silver, and its worldwide mintage is limited to 7,500 pieces.
A symbol of remembrance and the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion
The inspiration for this issue is the red poppy, whose significance was immortalized by the poem “In Flanders Fields” by Canadian poet John McCrae. This symbol has become an expression of remembrance, gratitude, and respect for the victims of war. The coin also commemorates the 100th anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion, celebrated in 2026.
Selectively applied colour and Proof finish
This piece, with a diameter of 38 mm and a face value of 20 Canadian dollars, was struck in the Proof standard. The selectively applied red colour highlights the central poppy motif. The coin features a serrated edge and is presented in an elegant black case with a matching box.
Obverse and reverse of the coin
Obverse features the effigy of the monarch designed by Steven Rosati, along with markings appropriate to a Canadian issue.
Reverse, designed by Claire Watson, depicts a red fabric poppy modeled after lapel pins from the 1920s, set against a background of a field of blooming poppies. The composition is completed by The Royal Canadian Legion’s Latin motto: “MEMORIAM EORUM RETINEBIMUS”.
