Canada: Predator or Prey in Shadow Box $175 2025 Silver Antique Finish Coin
Following the enormous success of the first shadow box coin in 2022, the Royal Canadian Mint returns with the second edition of this extraordinary minting technology. The **Predator or Prey in Shadow Box** coin tells the fascinating story of the predator-prey relationship—essential for the balance of nature. The design illustrates how each being, in the fight for survival, plays its role in the web of life, and only by examining the coin from a different angle does the observer discover that the hunter may become the hunted.
The Shadow Box features four separate layers of graphics on the reverse. While the layers are spaced and stacked on top of each other, they create the effect of a floating image, with overlapping parts revealing themselves only when viewed from a different angle.
The coin is minted from silver with a fineness of Ag.9999, weighing 738.92 grams and with a diameter of 102 mm, in proof standard. Each piece comes with certified individual packaging. The mintage is limited to 750 pieces. Additionally, this extraordinary coin was produced by The Royal Canadian Mint. The coin is backed by a guarantee from the Government of Canada regarding its legality, silver purity, and metal origin, and it is also legal tender in the issuing country.
Obverse features a portrait of King Charles III and the denomination, designed by Steven Rosati.
Reverse of the coin depicts a dynamic, multilayered scene filled with lush flora and hidden fauna, symbolizing the complexity of predator-prey relationships. The design, created by Neil Hamelin, delights with its intricate details and tells an emotional story in the form of mint art.
