Canada Multilayered Bluenose 10 Cents Silver 2026 Proof
The Multilayered Bluenose coin continues the Royal Canadian Mint’s innovative series launched with the Multilayered Beaver in 2025. This large-format coin, struck in 99.99% pure silver, gives new dimension to the classic ten-cent Bluenose design by Emanuel Hahn, transforming it into an almost cinematic seascape.
The Multilayered Engraving technique enables a multidimensional composition through layered engraving. The main design elements, including the new symbolic wave motif, are engraved on the coin’s top surface, while precise cutouts reveal a second artistic layer beneath. The result is pronounced depth and dimensionality rarely seen in numismatics.
Developed by the Royal Canadian Mint’s Research and Development team, this technology makes it possible to engrave not only on the coin’s surface but also within its structure. The sky background lends the entire scene an almost cinematic quality, and the undulating lines—curvilinear on the reverse and radiating on the obverse—consist of 10 lines symbolizing the 10-cent denomination.
The Bluenose motif is an official mark of the province of Nova Scotia and has been used by the Royal Canadian Mint with the consent of the appropriate authorities, further underscoring the historical and cultural significance of this issue.
The coin has a face value of 10 cents, a weight of 111.65 g, and an impressive diameter of 55 mm. The Proof finish ensures exceptional sharpness of detail and contrast, while the reeded edge completes the classic character of the issue.
Obverse of the coin: designed by Steven Rosati, it features the official effigy of the monarch, complemented by a radiating wave motif.
Reverse of the coin: by Emanuel Hahn and the Royal Canadian Mint’s engravers, depicts the legendary Bluenose schooner in a dynamic, multilayered maritime scene that blends classic design with modern technology.
Due to the complex production process, the mintage is extremely low at just 1,750 pieces worldwide. The coin is presented in an elegant black clamshell case with an outer black beauty box, appropriate for an issue of exceptional collector appeal.
