Canada: Lunar Year of the Horse 1 oz Silver 2026 Proof
Canada: Lunar Year of the Horse 1 oz Silver 2026 Proof is the fifth coin in the series dedicated to the Chinese zodiac, issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. It features an energetic horse in the style of traditional Chinese folk art, symbolizing optimism, passion, and independence – traits attributed to those born in the Year of the Horse. The coin is made of 1 oz of 99.99% pure silver, has a diameter of 38 mm, and a proof finish. The design perfectly captures the spirit of the Year of the Fire Horse – the element that in 2026 will amplify the determination and expression of zodiac Horses. Obverse: Designed by Steven Rosati, the obverse features a portrait of King Charles III. Along the rim are the inscriptions “CHARLES III” and “D.G.REX”. The composition emphasizes the official nature of the coin and its legal tender status in Canada. Reverse: A stylized horse in a dynamic pose, rendered in the aesthetic of Chinese folk art, symbolizes joy, strength, and independence. The background features decorative patterns and the Chinese zodiac character for the horse. The design was created by Jai Paek. The reverse also includes the face value, issuing country, and year of issue.
