Canada Honouring Canada’s Unknown Soldier $2 2025
Canada: Honouring Canada’s Unknown Soldier $2 2025 commemorates the 25th anniversary of the repatriation of the Unknown Soldier—a symbol of all the fallen whose names we do not know, whose sacrifice remains a cornerstone of Canada’s remembrance of war. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa is one of the country’s most important places of national reflection, especially on November 11, when it becomes the focal point of Remembrance Day ceremonies.
The reverse is designed by Mary-Ann Liu—the same artist who created the bronze bas-relief that adorns the actual tomb. In 2025, her design was adapted to a $2 circulation coin, creating a clear, eloquent tribute to all who have served and continue to serve Canada.
Reverse: depicts a street-level view of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the National War Memorial in the background. The base of the granite sarcophagus is also carried onto the outer ring, which bears the inscriptions "CANADA", "2 DOLLARS" and the bilingual legend "TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER / LA TOMBE DU SOLDAT INCONNU". Behind the tomb are silhouettes of four sentries representing all those who serve or have served in Canada’s armed forces. The design is completed with the poppy symbol.
Obverse: features the effigy of King Charles III by Steven Rosati, in keeping with the style adopted for Canadian issues since 2023.
The coin is struck to circulation standard with a core of tri-layer aluminum-bronze alloy, surrounded by an outer ring of triple nickel-plated steel. It weighs 6.99 g, measures 28 mm in diameter, and has the characteristic interrupted reeded edge. Mintage is limited to 10,000 pieces.
THE SALE PRICE IS FOR 1 PIECE.
