Silver Coin Canada: Haunted Canada – Gibraltar Point Lighthouse 1 oz Silver 2026 Proof is an extraordinary issue from the Royal Canadian Mint, combining numismatics with one of Toronto’s oldest ghost legends. Haunted Canada – the legend of Gibraltar Point Lighthouse
The theme of this issue refers to Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, built in 1808 and recognized as the oldest surviving lighthouse on the Great Lakes. According to legend, its first keeper, John Paul Radelmüller, vanished without a trace in 1815, and his spirit is said to still appear near the tower to this day.
Color and black light effect
The rectangular coin, measuring 49.80 x 28.60 mm, was struck in Proof standard and enhanced with color and black-light paint technology. The set includes a UV flashlight that activates the hidden luminous effect. The piece has a face value of 20 Canadian dollars and a smooth edge, and the whole set is presented in an elegant black case.
Obverse and reverse of the coin
Obverse features the portrait of the monarch by Steven Rosati, along with the inscriptions appropriate to a Canadian issue.
Reverse, designed by Patrick Bélanger, depicts Gibraltar Point Lighthouse on a dark, stormy night. Under UV light, the lighthouse begins to glow, and a mysterious silhouette of the lighthouse keeper’s ghost appears on the grounds.
