Canada: Dinosaur Eye 1 oz Silver 2025 Proof Shaped Coin
Canada: Dinosaur Eye 1 oz Silver 2025 Proof Shaped Coin is a unique collector coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, with a design that takes us back millions of years – to the age of dinosaurs. The oval shape of the coin perfectly mimics a tyrannosaur's eye, while finely detailed scales and the colorful reflection in the pupil add exceptional realism. The reverse features a close-up of the eye of the prehistoric predator Thanatotheristes, considered the oldest tyrannosaur discovered in Canada. Within the colorful reflection of the pupil, another member of the species can be seen, adding depth and dynamism to the scene. The skin surrounding the eye is covered in finely engraved scales. The design was approved by experts at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology. The coin is made of 1 oz of 99.99% pure silver and features a proof finish with selective colorization. Its oval shape measuring 48 × 30.33 mm and domed reverse enhance the three-dimensional and lifelike effect. Obverse: Portrait of the monarch, royal inscriptions, face value, year of issue, and issuing country. Reverse: Eye of the tyrannosaur Thanatotheristes with realistic scale details and colorful reflection in the pupil. Design by Julius Csotonyi.
