Canada: Conservation Stories: Monarch Butterfly 2025 Specimen Set
Canada: Conservation Stories: Monarch Butterfly 6 Coins 2025 Specimen Set is an exceptional collection that highlights the critical situation of the monarch butterfly, one of the most important pollinators in the world. Every year, during the autumn period, the monarch embarks on one of the longest migrations, traveling 4,000 kilometers from Canada to its winter habitats. During this journey, the butterfly not only pollinates plants but also supports ecosystems that are essential for its survival. Unfortunately, climate change and habitat loss present numerous challenges that threaten its existence.
The coins are made from a copper-nickel alloy, brass-coated steel, and a bromine-aluminum alloy, in the Specimen finish. The coins in the set have the following denominations: 2 Dollars, 1 Dollar, 50 Cents, 25 Cents, 10 Cents, and 5 Cents, from the highest to the lowest denomination. Their weight and diameter are as follows: 6.99 g and 28.03 mm, 6.27 g and 26.50 mm, 6.90 g and 27.13 mm, 4.44 g and 23.88 mm, 1.75 g and 18.06 mm, 3.95 g and 21.20 mm. The set is presented in an elegant book-style packaging, allowing easy viewing of each coin.
The set comes in an individual, certified packaging. The coins were produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, with a mintage of 30,000 sets. The coins are guaranteed by the Government of Canada for their legality, purity, and metal provenance, and they are legal tender in the issuing country.
The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, designed by Steven Rosati.
The reverses feature depictions of monarch butterflies, their natural habitat, and information about the year, denomination, and issuing country. The coins depict the monarch and other symbols of Canadian fauna and flora, encouraging the protection of the environment and the restoration of habitats that will allow these and other pollinators to survive. The reverse of the 1 Dollar coin was designed by Julius Csotonyi.
