Canada: Avro Arrow $20 Silver 2025 Proof
Canada: Avro Arrow $20 Silver 2025 Proof is a unique coin that pays tribute to one of the most groundbreaking achievements in Canadian aviation – the Avro CF-105 Arrow interceptor. In the 1950s, it was considered a symbol of a new era for Canada in aviation. With its ability to reach heights and speeds exceeding Mach 2, the Avro Arrow was one of the most advanced interceptor jets of its time. Although the project was canceled in 1959, its legacy lives on as a symbol of Canadian ingenuity and technological achievement.
The coin is struck from .9999 fine silver, weighs 31.39 grams, and has a diameter of 38 mm. It features a proof finish. Each coin is presented in an individually certified case. The mintage is limited to 10,000 pieces. The coin was produced by the Royal Canadian Mint and is backed by the Government of Canada for its legality, metal purity, and origin. It is legal tender in Canada.
The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III along with the coin’s face value and issuing country, designed by Steven Rosati.
The reverse depicts the first Avro Arrow prototype – RL-201 – flying over the waters of Lake Ontario. The outline of the test model is subtly etched into the water’s surface, referencing the nine miniature versions of the aircraft launched over the same lake during the aircraft’s development. The reverse was designed by Ardell Bourgeois.
