Canada: 100th Anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion $1 Silver 2026 Proof
Canada: 100th Anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion $1 Silver 2026 Proof commemorates the centennial of the largest Canadian veterans’ and community service organization. The Royal Canadian Legion, established in 1926 from the merger of numerous veterans’ groups after the First World War, has for a hundred years safeguarded remembrance, provided support to all veterans, members of the armed forces, the RCMP and their families, and actively served local communities. The 2026 issue pays tribute to this century-long tradition of dedication, unity and responsibility.
The coin is struck in 99.99% pure silver, in a proof finish, with a pronounced contrast of different surface frostings. This causes the poppies — a symbol of remembrance — to shift in tone, at times appearing black depending on the viewing angle. The reverse features 14 poppy flowers, representing Canada’s 13 provinces and territories as well as Legion branches operating outside the country. A forget-me-not is also included, a symbol of remembrance in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Issued in a mintage of 35,000, the coin is one of the first silver collector issues of the year and one of the most anticipated Royal Canadian Mint products. It is presented in an elegant black clamshell case with a black outer box.
Obverse: the effigy of King Charles III by Steven Rosati, surrounded by the issuer’s classic inscriptions and denomination.
Reverse: a design by Steve Hepburn featuring symbolic flowers of remembrance and a laser-engraved pattern referencing the century-long history of The Royal Canadian Legion and its mission of service to veterans and the community.
