Britannia and Liberty 1 oz Silver 2026
The 2026 Britannia and Liberty Silver Coin 1 oz Silver is a unique bullion issue produced by The Royal Mint in collaboration with the United States Mint. The design brings together two of the most recognizable national symbols of Great Britain and the United States – Britannia and Lady Liberty – highlighting the long-standing relationship between the two countries.
For the first time, the Britannia and Liberty motif was created through the collaboration of the chief engravers of both mints – Gordon Summers of The Royal Mint and Joseph Menna of the United States Mint. The design refers to the idea of the “special relationship,” a term popularized by Winston Churchill in 1946, symbolizing the close ties between Great Britain and the United States.
The coin was struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, has a diameter of 38.61 mm, and a face value of 2 pounds sterling. The numismatic piece was produced to the Bullion standard, meeting the highest quality standards of The Royal Mint.
The mintage was limited to 50,000 pieces, emphasizing the collectible nature of this exceptional issue.
The obverse, designed by Martin Jennings, features the official effigy of King Charles III along with the face value.
The reverse, jointly designed by Gordon Summers and Joseph Menna, depicts Britannia and Lady Liberty presented with equal importance. The composition was inspired by figures on playing cards, emphasizing balance, strength, and the shared values represented by both nations.
