The image was introduced on English coins in the 17th century during the reign of Charles II, but the way in which the figure and its attributes are depicted indicates that it must have been based on a Roman original. The Averse is modified in each odd year of issue. It shows an image of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, wearing a crown. It also shows the face value of the coin. The Rewers of the coin depicts the traditional figure of Britannia, armed with a trident and shield. In addition, information on the purity and weight of the gold can be found on the reverse.Do you need help?
