Big Five II: Buffalo 2 x 1 Ounce Silver 2023 Proof Set is a set containing coins that are the fifth instalment of the second series, the Big Five II. The first series was very popular with collectors, merchants. The limited edition Big Five Africa series is made up of animals - elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard. The coin shows the buffalo. The animals are mainly herbivores.

The coins were struck in pure Ag.999 bullion, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 38.73 mm in diameter, in proof standard.

The coins have been produced by the renowned mint, The South Africa Mint, and are official legal tender in the issuing country. The entire series is guaranteed by the South African government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal.

The set has a mintage of only 1 000 pieces and individual original packaging.

The obverse shows a buffalo head and the inscription "SOUTH AFRICA" , "BIG FIVE 2023" and the South African coat of arms.

On the reverse are depicted two halves of a buffalo head. The reverse bears the inscription "FIVE RAND" and information about the weight and purity of the bullion. By arranging several coins in one position, the entire buffalo herd can be depicted.
