Ukraine Banknote: We Remember, We Will Not Forgive 20 Hryvnias (20 UAH) 2023 is a unique commemorative issue honoring the resilience, courage, and sacrifice of the Ukrainian nation in the face of armed aggression.
The banknote was issued in 2023 by the National Bank of Ukraine and has a denomination of 20 hryvnias. It is presented in bank condition (UNC), which means it has not been in circulation and retains its full collector value. Its dimensions are 80 x 165 mm.
The issue was prepared in response to the events that began on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The banknote serves as a symbol of resistance, the struggle for independence, and commitment to democratic and European values.
The design includes numerous security features, including solutions known from circulating banknotes as well as additional optical protections. Each specimen bears an individual serial number from the “ZS” series. The banknote number may differ from the one shown in the photo.
Obverse depicts Ukrainian soldiers raising the national flag against the background of a map of Ukraine and the flags of supporting countries. The composition is complemented by extensive inscriptions referring to the war, sovereignty, and democratic values. Also visible are the small coat of arms of Ukraine, a laurel wreath, symbolic elements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the inscriptions “GLORY TO UKRAINE / GLORY TO THE HEROES”.
Reverse shows a symbolic, moving composition referring to the suffering and struggle of the Ukrainian people. The central motif is tied hands set against the figure of a person bearing a bullet wound, stylized in the shape of a poppy. These are accompanied by elements such as candle flames, a crown of thorns, and fragments of destroyed buildings. Also featured are the inscriptions “WE REMEMBER! WE WILL NOT FORGIVE! NEVER!” as well as the denomination markings and serial number.
