Ukraine Banknote: We Remember, We Do Not Forgive 20 Hryvnias (20 UAH) 2023 is a unique commemorative issue honoring the resilience, courage, and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in the face of armed aggression.
The banknote was issued in 2023 by the National Bank of Ukraine and has a denomination of 20 hryvnias. It is in uncirculated (UNC) condition, meaning it has not been in circulation and retains full collector value. Its dimensions are 80 x 165 mm. The piece is delivered in a collector's envelope.
The issue was prepared in response to the events that began on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The banknote symbolizes resistance, the struggle for independence, and commitment to democratic and European values.
The design includes numerous security features, including those found on circulating banknotes as well as additional optical security features. Each piece bears an individual serial number from the "ZS" series. The serial number may differ from the one shown in the photo.
Obverse depicts Ukrainian soldiers raising the national flag against a map of Ukraine and the flags of supporting countries. The composition is complemented by extensive inscriptions referring to the war, sovereignty, and democratic values. Also visible are the small coat of arms of Ukraine, a laurel wreath, symbolic elements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the inscriptions "GLORY TO UKRAINE / GLORY TO THE HEROES".
Reverse presents a symbolic, moving composition referring to the suffering and struggle of the Ukrainian people. The central motif is a pair of bound hands set against a figure with a bullet mark stylized in the shape of a poppy. Accompanying elements include candle flames, a crown of thorns, and fragments of destroyed buildings. Also visible are the inscriptions "WE REMEMBER! WE WILL NOT FORGIVE! NEVER!" as well as denomination markings and the serial number.
