Banknote 10 Great British Pound - King Charles III (10 pound / 10 GBP) UNC
The polymer banknote of £10 featuring King Charles III was introduced into circulation by the Bank of England on October 2, 2023. This was the third polymer banknote issued by the Bank of England, continuing the trend of modernizing British currency that was initiated by earlier £5 and £10 banknotes. The purpose of introducing polymer banknotes was to increase their durability and enhance security against counterfeiting.
On the obverse, there is an image of King Charles III. This portrait is a standard element of all British banknotes and symbolizes a new era in the history of the British monarchy. Surrounding the portrait are the words "Bank of England" and the denomination "£10".
On the reverse of the banknote, there is an image of Jane Austen, one of the most important writers in the history of English literature. Her novels, such as "Pride and Prejudice" and "Sense and Sensibility," have become classics of literature and have been adapted for film and television many times. Jane Austen was chosen for the £10 banknote to honor her contributions to British literature and culture. The banknote also features a quote from "Pride and Prejudice": "I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!" spoken by the character Miss Bingley.
The polymer £10 banknote contains many advanced security features designed to prevent counterfeiting and assist in identifying genuine banknotes:
Hologram image change:
Tilt the note from side to side; the words change between "Ten" and "Pounds".
See-through window:
On the front of the note, the foil over the window is gold, while on the back, it is silver.
Copper foil patch in the shape of a book:
It contains the letters "JA," referring to the initials of Jane Austen.
Monarch's portrait in the see-through window:
The portrait of King Charles III is printed on the window with "£10 Bank of England" printed twice around the edge.
Colour-changing quill:
When tilting the note, the colored quill at the side of the see-through window changes from purple to orange.
Silver foil:
Above the see-through window on the front of the note, there is silver foil with a 3D image of the coronation crown.
Feel of polymer and raised print:
The note is printed on polymer, which increases its durability and resistance to dirt. On the front of the note, you can feel raised print, for example, on the words "Bank of England" and around the number "10".
Important!
The specimen is subject to exchange at a currency exchange office and cannot be returned. In the case of purchasing banknotes that do not have a specific year of issue stated in the title or in the product specifications, the banknotes will be sent randomly in terms of the date of issue.
