The Averse was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for coins minted between 1907 and 1933, and depicts the personification of Liberty, symbol of the United States and liberation, walking with the attributes of peace: an olive branch and a torch. The seat of the US Congress can be seen at her feet, with the sun's rays in the background. The obverse features the maxim of the Declaration of Independence - "In God We Trust" Rewers is decorated by an eagle (designed by John Mercanti) holding a ribbon with the maxim "E pluribus unum" (Latin: Out of many one), referring to the unification of the states. Above the eagle are thirteen five-pointed stars, symbolising the thirteen colonies. Do you need help?
