The American Eagle is a gold investment coin among the best-selling and most popular gold bullion coins in the world. It is a highly liquid investment grade product. It is also the hallmark of the United States Mint. The American Eagle is a coin minted in 1/2 ounce weight and Au.916 bullion purity. It is produced from 22K gold and enhanced with a small admixture of silver and copper. The Golden Eagle is guaranteed by the US government as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal, and is legal tender in the country of issue.The obverse represents the personification of Liberty, symbol of the United States and liberation, walking with the attributes of peace: an olive branch and a torch. At her feet, the seat of the US Congress can be seen, with the rays of the sun in the background. The design of the obverse was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse features an image of an eagle landing in its nest, designed by American sculptor Miley Tucker-Frost.
