African Wildlife: Somalia Elephant "Giant Moon" coloured 1000 gram Silver 2025
The Somali Elephant silver coin is the next installment in a series created in 1999 called the Somali Elephant. Interestingly, the first copies of the 1999 series were minted as coins guaranteed by the Zambian government. The copies minted after 2003 have a different guarantor, which is the Somali government. Additionally, the Somali Elephant silver and gold coin series is part of the African Wildlife collector programme.
The 2025 silver piece was produced by the German precious metals producer Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt, with a weight of 1,000 grams, a diameter of 100 mm and a bullion sample of Ag.9999.
Furthermore, African Wildlife: Somali Elephant coins that were produced after 2004 act as full legal tender and are guaranteed by the Somali government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal.
The obverse depicts the Somali coat of arms, two leopards supporting a shield with a star, along with information on the year of mintage and the denomination of the coin.
Rewers shows an elephant against a background of the African steppe. The reverse side shows the inscription "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT" and information on the weight and purity of the bullion.
