African Wildlife: Somali Elephant 1 oz Silver 2020
The silver Somali Elephant coin is the next installment of a series created in 1999 called the Somali Elephant. Interestingly, the first copies of the 1999 series were minted as coins guaranteed by the Zambian government. Copies minted after 2003 have another guarantor, which is the Somali government. In addition, the Somali Elephant silver and gold coin series is part of the African Wildlife collector program.
The 2020 silver piece was produced by the German precious metals producer Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt, in a weight of one troy ounce and a bullion sample of 9999. What's more, African Wildlife: Somalia Elephant coins that were produced after 2004 play the role of full-fledged legal tender and have the Somali government's guarantee of the legality, purity of the bullion and the origin of the metal.
The obverse depicts Somalia's coat of arms, two leopards supporting a shield with a star along with information on the year of minting and the coin's denomination.
Reverse shows a pair of Somali elephants against a natural environment.
