Its cinematic legacy was brought back into the spotlight with the release of “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022.

The reverse design was created by Lucas Bowers, while the portrait of the monarch on the obverse was designed by Jody Clark.

Obverse and Reverse of the Coin

Obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Jody Clark. Surrounding the portrait are inscriptions indicating the weight, silver purity, face value, and the year of issue, 2026.

Below is the inscription “40 YEARS,” while the background is formed by red and blue clouds. The design is completed by the slogan “I FEEL THE NEED… THE NEED FOR SPEED” and The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark.
