30th Anniversary of the Torres Strait Islander Flag Colorized $2 Silver Coin 2025 Proof “C” Mintmark
The Torres Strait Islander Flag $2 Silver 2025 Proof collector coin was issued to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the official recognition of the Torres Strait Islander Flag as a Flag of Australia. Designed in 1992 by Bernard Namok, the flag symbolizes the identity, pride, and unity of the Torres Strait Islander community. Its colors – green, blue, and black – represent the land, the sea, and the people respectively, while the central Dhari and five-pointed star reflect the cultural heritage and the five main island groups.
The coin is struck from 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, featuring a colorized reverse and the mintmark “C”. It is legal tender in Australia and has a limited mintage of only 7,500 pieces. The product is presented in an elegant case with a numbered certificate of authenticity. This special issue honors the rich history and contributions of the Torres Strait Islander community to Australia’s heritage.
Obverse features the effigy of King Charles III by Daniel Thorne. The legend includes the monarch’s name, issuing country, denomination, and year of issue – 2025.
Reverse depicts a stylized image of the Torres Strait Islander Flag, complemented by traditional islander art elements. At the bottom are the mintmark “C” and the dates “1995–2025”, marking the 30th anniversary of the flag’s official recognition.
