The obverse features an image of a heraldic eagle with a shield on its chest. Above it are 13 stars and the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST". Surrounding the whole is the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the coin's denomination "TWENTY DOLLARS".The image of the reverse was designed by James B. Longacre and was minted between 1850 and 1907.The Rewers of the coin depict the head of the Goddess of Liberty, facing left. She is surrounded by 13 stars. Below this is the year the coin was struck.
