Her reign, which began in 1952, spanned a period of profound social and political change, and for decades she was a symbol of the nation’s stability and continuity.

The coin is struck from Ag 925 silver, with a weight of 56.56 g and a diameter of 38.61 mm. The face value is 5 pounds. The numismatic piece is produced in the prestigious Proof Piedfort quality, distinguished by increased thickness and an exceptionally sharp relief with strong contrast between mirror-like and matte surfaces.

The reverse design was created by the heraldic artist Timothy Noad, inspired by wrought-iron ornamentation found in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle — the resting place of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse features a portrait of King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings.

The issue was prepared by the renowned British mint The Royal Mint, which throughout Elizabeth II’s reign was responsible for producing the United Kingdom’s official circulation and collector coins.
