100th Anniversary of Jan Karski's Birth 200 PLN Gold 2014 Proof
The gold collector coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jan Karski comes from an issue by the National Bank of Poland. This gold coin weighs 15.50 grams and has a gold fineness of 900. Its uniqueness is emphasized by its mirror-like finish and limited mintage of only 2,500 pieces.
Obverse features the image of the eagle established for the coat of arms of the Republic of Poland, as well as a fragment of a wall with barbed wire, symbolizing occupied Poland. The inscriptions on the obverse include "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA", the face value of "200 ZŁ", and the year of issue – 2014.
Reverse shows a portrait of Jan Karski, recreated from a photograph from the collection of Carol Harrison. The coin was designed by Sebastian Mikołajczak.
