The coin depicts the rich heraldry of the Tudor dynasty, referring to emblems visible across the United Kingdom as well as sculptures adorning the entrance to Hampton Court Palace. Henry VIII used coats of arms as a powerful tool for visual communication, emphasizing his royal heritage and unquestionable right to the throne.
The White Greyhound of Richmond symbolizes Henry VIII’s connection to his ancestors, including Edward III and the House of Lancaster. This animal became a symbol of royal lineage thanks to Henry VIII's grandfather, Edmund Tudor, Earl of Richmond, who used the white greyhound as his heraldic supporter.
The entire series will consist of 10 coins depicting the likenesses of animals - Seymour Panther, The Lion of England, The Bull of Clarence, The Tudor Dragon, The Greyhound of Richmond, The Royal Dragon, The Yale of Beaufort, The Seymour Unicorn, The Queen’s Panther, and The Queen’s Lion.
The coin is struck from pure silver with a fineness of Ag.999, weighing 10 troy ounces and with a diameter of 65 mm in proof quality. The mintage of the coin is 40 pieces. Additionally, this exceptional specimen was produced by The Royal Mint. The coin comes with individual certified packaging.
Obverse features a likeness of King Charles III of the United Kingdom along with the denomination and year, designed by Martin Jennings.
Reverse depicts one of the Tudor Kingdom’s beasts – the Queen’s Panther, and the inscription "THE GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND" "2025." The reverse design was created by David Lawrence.
