The coin is part of the Vienna Philharmonic program, introduced to the market in the late 1980s. The 1/2 ounce fraction complements the flagship one-ounce coin while maintaining the same gold fineness and quality parameters. The 50-euro denomination grants it legal tender status in the Republic of Austria, while in investment trade the precious metal content is decisive. Below the instrument appear the weight and fineness “1/2 UNZE GOLD 999.9,” the year of issue “2026,” and the face value “50 EURO.” The obverse layout preserves the symmetry typical of the Vienna Philharmonic series.
Reverse depicts a set of instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra: a centrally placed cello, with violins and violas on the sides, and in the background a Vienna horn, bassoon, and harp. The composition is encircled by the arched inscription “WIENER PHILHARMONIKER,” running along the coin’s edge. The reverse motif is common to all Gold Philharmonics and remains unchanged across all weight variants, including the 2026 half-ounce version.
