The Royal Tudor Beasts: Queen’s Lion 2 x 1 oz Silver 2026 Proof is a remarkable collector’s set issued by The Royal Mint as part of the prestigious Royal Tudor Beasts series. This series celebrates the heritage of the Tudor dynasty and its heraldic symbolism, depicting mythical beasts that adorn the grounds of Hampton Court Palace. The ninth design in the series is the Queen’s Lion – a majestic creature symbolising royal authority and Jane Seymour’s status as the consort of King Henry VIII.
The set consists of two coins, each weighing 1 oz, struck from .999 fine silver to the highest proof standard. One coin features a traditional mirrored finish, while the other is presented in a frosted variant, making the set especially appealing to collectors. Each coin measures 38.61 mm in diameter, and the total mintage is strictly limited to just 250 sets.
Designed by acclaimed artist David Lawrence, the reverse portrays a heraldic lion with head raised, holding a shield bearing the royal badge of Jane Seymour. This design reflects the historical significance of heraldic symbols, whose presence in Tudor art and architecture underscored the dynasty’s power, heritage, and authority.
