The Centenary of the Flying Scotsman £2 gold-plated, coloured Silver 2023 Proof is an interesting product that celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023. The Flying Scotsman is often hailed as the most famous steam locomotive in the world. It was first introduced to the railways in 1923.The specimen is minted in Ag.925 silver, weighing 12 grams, 28.40 mm in diameter, in proof standard. The mintage of the coin is 4,472 pieces. In addition, the coin is gilded in yellow gold. Furthermore, this extraordinary piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The coin is guaranteed by the UK government as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal, and is fully legal tender in the issuer's country.

The obverse shows the effigy of King Charles III of Great Britain and the denomination and year, as designed by Martin Jennings.

Rewers represents a coloured Flying Scotsman and the inscriptions "FLYING SCOTSMAN LNER 4472", "1923- 2023". John Bergdahl is responsible for the design of the reverse.
