The films were made in 2001, 2002, and 2003, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novels. This unique issue has a strictly limited mintage of only 3,000 pieces. The silver coin is struck in pure Ag.999 bullion, weighing one troy ounce and measuring 36 mm x 53 mm, in proof standard. The renowned mint manufacturer, New Zealand Mint, is responsible for its production.
