The book celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022 and is the first part of a seven-volume series of novels where the main character is Harry Potter, facing evil in the wizarding world. This is the second coin in the Harry Potter 25th Anniversary series.

The copy is minted in Au.916.7 gold, weighing 15.50 grams, 27.30 mm in diameter, in proof standard. The mintage of the coin is 310 pieces. In addition, this unusual piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The product has been housed in its original packaging. The coin is guaranteed by the UK government as to its legality, purity of bullion and origin of the metal, and is full legal tender in the issuer's country. The Averse shows the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination and year, as designed by Jody Clark.
