The aforementioned mint is the longest-established mint in Europe, is responsible for the production of coins and orders for some 60 countries around the world and has exclusive rights to the production of pounds and national medals in the UK.

The 2024 Double Sovereign is minted in Au.916.7 bullion, 22-karat gold, 28.40mm in diameter, weighing 15.98 grams. Each coin in the historic series has an admixture of copper, so it remains highly resistant to scratches and damage. In addition, all Sovereigns are guaranteed by the UK Government.

The obverse shows the effigy of King Charles III of Great Britain, the inscription "CHARLES III∙DEI∙GRA∙REX∙FID∙DEF", designed by Martin Jennings. The Rewers depicts a scene of Saint George slaying a dragon. The date of issue is also indicated at the bottom of the gold coin. The designer of the reverse was Benedetto Pistrucci.
