Germania Mint
History of creation
Germania Mint is a Polish mint that was established only a few years ago, or to be more precise, in 2018. However, behind this entity stands many years of experience and excellent knowledge of the numismatic market. Indeed, Germania Mint is part of the Kurowski Group, whose history dates back to 1986. It was then that Apolinary Kurowski, the father of the mint's owner, launched a numismatic store in Jelenia Góra. Over the years, the business he has been running has grown rapidly and over time he has begun to change the profile of his business. Today, the company employs more than 200 people and is a global enterprise. Specializes in numismatic packaging and coin refinements. It boasts an excellent reputation and cooperation with many mints, national banks, local governments and numismatic companies from around the world.
Since its inception, Germania Mint has been releasing gold and silver coins, including colored coins, for which it also designs unique packaging - blisters, caps and wooden boxes. They serve both a security function for the coins produced, but also add to their history. In 2021, the mint added cast silver bars to its offerings, which are constantly being expanded with new sizes and variants. Recently, cast copper bars have also appeared.
Curiosity
Located in Jelenia Gora, the mint primarily produces proprietary coin collections, but can also boast partner issues. Germaia Mint collaborates m. in. with the Central Bank of Malta, for which it mints commemorative coins.
The cooperation was initiated in 2021 and began with the Malta Knights of the Past coin series, which draws on the traditions and history of the Order of Malta. In 2021, a 2-ounce silver coin with a denomination of €2 in an edition of 999 pieces and a 1-ounce silver coin with a denomination of €5 in an edition of 15,000 pieces will be released. In 2022, two more coins with exactly the same denominations and identical mintage, but with completely new images, were added to the collection. Particularly interesting are the 10-euro coins, which, although minted from high-quality silver, were minted with a small addition of gold, which highlighted the weapons or armor of the Maltese knights.
Production volume
Over the past few years, Germania Mint has released 8 gold coins in mintages ranging from 100 to 500 pieces and dozens of silver coins in mintages ranging from a few hundred to as much as 25,000. copies of. The volume of production is thus not exaggerated, but it is worth noting that the mint has been on the market for only a few years. Its achievements to date, as well as established partnerships, allow us to assume that in the coming years the offer will be expanded with more original coins that will win the hearts of investors and collectors.
Most popular products
The jewel in Germania Mint's crown is undoubtedly the Germania bullion coin, which debuted in 2019 and has been issued every year since then. The collection includes gold and silver coins in both Proof and BU versions. The Mint tries to surprise its customers with new products every year, so it refreshes the images of the coins every year, but also introduces surprising novelties to the offer. In 2020, the novelty was a kilogram silver coin, while in 2021, an innovative obverse design whose perspective expands as the size of the coin increases. The leitmotif of each coin in the series is the personification of Germania - strong and courageous, as well as a two-headed eagle, symbolizing Roman times.
Coins in the Allegories series, highlighting the extraordinary characters of the "Mothers of Nations," are also well regarded by collectors. The image of each coin is, of course, decorated with the personification of Germania, which is always accompanied by a second figure - Britannia, Columbia, Italia, Austria or Polonia. The series debuted in 2019 and is beaten annually. It includes 1, 2, 5 and 10 ounce coins, which are minted in mintages of 25,000, 2,500, 500 and 250 respectively.
