Moon Landing
Moon Landing
50. Anniversary of the moon landing
This is an extraordinary collection of silver and gold bullion coins commemorating one of the most important events in human history - the first successful landing of man on the moon. The uniqueness of the collection is emphasized by the image of the coins, which includes all the most important symbols of a stellar journey. The coins honoring the 50th anniversary of the momentous event were created by the Royal Australian Mint and have an exclusive distributor, Metal Market Europe.
Straight from the Antipodes
The Royal Australian Mint is a government-owned mint creating both government and investment-grade products. It was the first globally to be accredited to international quality standards - ISO 9001.
The mint was officially opened on February 22, 1965. It is worth mentioning that the opening ceremony of the Royal Mint was attended by His Highness Prince Philip. One of the first and main tasks of the Royal Australian Mint was to introduce a new currency, operating on a decimal system.
The mint's versatility makes it not only the sole supplier of local circulation coins, but also produces coins for other countries, m.in.: Malaysia, Fiji, Thailand and New Zealand. Importantly, in 2001 it became the first in the world to issue a coin with a double hologram.
Cosmonaut and the Moon
The unusual Moon Landing collection consists of two bullion coins, a silver one and a gold one. The coins are guaranteed by the Australian government as to their legality, purity of assay and bullion origin, and are full legal tender in Australia.

Silver bullion coin with a weight of 1 troy ounce and a diameter of 40 mm is a coin created from pure fine silver. The number of minted copies is limited with only 25,000 pieces.
The gold coin, with a diameter of 38.74 mm, was minted in 1 troy ounce weight and gold grade 9999. Note the very low circulation of only 250 units globally.
The reverse, meanwhile, features a beautiful engraving that depicts: a cosmonaut in a specialized spacesuit, a space rocket against the backdrop of the Moon, and the distinctive footprint of the sole of the so-called "moon shoe" - a peculiar, already legendary symbol of man's presence on the surface of the Moon. In addition, the whole coin is surrounded by the inscription: "50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MOON LANDING" and information about the denomination, weight of the coin and the bullion proof.
All coins share a common image on both obverse and reverse sides. The obverse of the Moon Landing features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, bearing the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA 2019"".
A great leap for humanity
This great deed was accomplished by members of NASA during the Apollo 11 space mission, whose flight was part of a broader U.S. program of the same name. The commander of the space crew was Neil Armstrong, while the other members were: Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins. The goal of the mission was to land on the lunar surface, perform a short spacewalk, collect samples of the lunar surface and rocks and then return to Earth.
Exactly 50 years ago the first man landed on the moon.
Everything ended with great success, and the whole crew happily returned home. The achievement of American cosmonauts to this day is considered the greatest achievement of civilization. It is worth remembering that in addition to the symbols visible to the naked eye, this journey left behind one of the most outstanding quotes: "It's a small step for man, but a giant leap for mankind".
