The third coin in the Dancing Ammolite series by the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) celebrates the element of Fire—an element associated with energy, warmth, creativity, and passion. Fire can blaze fiercely or glow gently, but its true magic lies in movement: in the flicker and rhythm of the flames. It is this mesmerizing "choreography" that inspired the sculpted flame lines that wind around the coin’s central feature.
At the heart of the design is the Canadian gemstone ammolite, ethically sourced from the Bearpaw Geological Formation in Alberta. Ammolite is renowned for its iridescent colors, and in this edition the red tones especially resonate, evoking the power and transformative nature of Fire—the element associated with the year 2026.
The coin is struck in 99.99% pure silver and enhanced with selective gold plating that accentuates the composition’s fiery accents. The central ammolite measuring 5 mm in diameter features a checkerboard cut to maximize sparkle. The stone is set in a three-dimensional diamond cage crafted by Canadian firm Beverly Hills Jewellers, allowing it to "dance" and shimmer with every movement of the coin, as if lit from within.
This is a distinctly collectible release: the coin has a face value of $20, a weight of 20.86 g, and a diameter of 36.07 mm, while the Proof finish delivers elegant contrast and high detail. Mintage is strictly limited to just 900 pieces worldwide, so it’s one of those products that disappear faster than people can decide.
Obverse: designed by Steven Rosati, it features the official effigy of the monarch, in keeping with the tradition of Canadian issues.
Reverse: by Mariya Olshevska, it focuses on the motif of Fire in motion: sculpted lines of flame encircle the "dancing" ammolite, and the gold-plated details reflect its warm highlights, creating the effect of living, pulsing light.
The coin is offered in an elegant black clamshell case with an outer graphic beauty box, which suits its jewelry-like character and keeps storage tidy.
