60th Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising 2004
A coin commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, made of 925 sterling silver and weighing 14.14g. The Warsaw Uprising is a historic event that highlights the heroism of citizens fighting for Warsaw, for freedom. Initially intended to last a few days, it turned into a 63-day battle against the invaders. The obverse shows an illustration of an anchor, whose segment is in the shape of the letter "P" symbolising Poland, and whose arms are the letter W symbolising the battle. The Fighting Poland emblem includes an eagle, which represents the emblem of the Republic of Poland, all depicted against the backdrop of a brick wall. From the obverse one can also read the denomination and year of issue, as well as the inscription RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA.The reverse depicts the figure of a young insurgent against the background of a brick wall.
